Chet Atkins frequently collaborated with other geniuses to make great albums. I’ve already posted one of him with Les Paul (I’ve got another that I can’t find) and I’ve got a CD of Chet with Mark Knopler of the Dire Straights, Neck and Neck.

Chet Atkins and Doc Watson, Reflections, RCA Victor AHL1-3701. 1980. Doc Watson is nearly worshiped in folk and bluegrass circles. he is a master at the flat-picking style (whatever that is).

Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. The Atkins – Travis Show, RCA APL1-0479. 1974. Merle Travis is a huge star of country music from earlier county music and developed his own picking style also. I have no idea what kind of instrument that is Travis is holding.

Chet Atkins and His Guitar, Camden Records CAL-659 RE, 1964. I really like this cover. There is something about the industry of a train bridge in the middle of wooded countryside. It attracts both sides of my split personality.

Chet Atkins Now and… Then. Silver Anniversary Series. RCA Victor VPSX-6079 Stereo, 1972. I have a better copy of this that I got after I took this photo. Now and Then is not on CD, so if anyone wants to buy one of the LPs, just let me know. I’m reasonable. My wife wants me to get rid of all 600 albums. Well, maybe not all, but most. She’s really very good about my collecting tendencies. I will say that even though she doesn’t read any of my blogs. EDIT: NOW AND THEN SOLD.

Chet Atkins and Les Paul. Chester and Lester: Guitar Monsters. RCA Records APL1-2786. 1978. They did another album together the previous year. I also own Neck and Neck with Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler on CD.
