Dwight’s Soda had a series of cards for Useful Birds of America. As opposed to the un-useful birds like the cowbird. Some good info on the series of cards can be found at Deseret News. This Prothonotary Warbler is copyright 1922 and Third Series Number 7. Dwight’s soda is baking soda (bicarbonate of soda), not soda pop. I’ve already sold this card.

Pictured on the first pic is Century II, an expo hall built in 1969, where I was just at a conference last week. The second pic has the public library, built in 1967, on the left (I was just there also, it’s right next to Century II), also pictured are the KSB Motor Bank and the Regal Inn.

Lots and lots of music today! Both documentaries and concert films. The Classic Albums series is pretty good, I’ve watched a few already (The Joshua Tree and The Doors). Remember, these are only the NEW to Netflix instant streaming, they’ve had several others streaming for some time, and lots more on DVD. AND this is just the retro stuff, I didn’t include Alisha Keys, Korn, or Puddle of Mudd, etc. To join Netflix just click the banner above.

Then we have a bunch of the Classic Albums series. The cool thing with this series is that they talk to the producers and recording engineers giving more than just a fawning critic or best-friend fellow-musician’s look at the album.

Let’s Play Music: A Child’s Introduction to Rhythm and Melody. with Ann Callendar and Margaret Harmsworth. Wonderland Records GW-206. 1974. A Fiona Bentley Production. I just sold this at my booth at the flea market. Got $7.50 for it. It was in very good plus shape, at least, the vinyl was and the cover is at least very good.

Walt Disney’s Treasury of Dog Stories

036 (Large)

Walt Disney’s Treasury of Dog Stories including The Incredible Journey plus Sam Savage, Big Red, Old Yeller, Greyfriars Bobby, and Nikki. Disneyland Records, 1964. This is a box-set with 3 albums. According to Discogs, this was only available through Friskies dog food! It must be rare! And those dog lovers out there want one! And the Disney collectors! I’m rich! It never seems to work out that way though. I should at least take a better picture that’s not all yellow.

Been super busy, almost done with tiling the second shower area. Also still cleaning up from the wind storm a few weeks back. Got some new gutter on last Saturday and a bunch of clearing done too.
  • Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (1973) Another head trip for kids from Sid and Marty Krofft.
  • Tuff Turf Here’s my soundtrack album. Great ’80s flick with James Spader, Kim Richards in a miniskirt, and Robert Downey, Jr. Instant Only!
  • Kennedys’ Home Movies (2011) Good thing there wasn’t an internet back then. Instant Only.
  • Days of Heaven (1978) The opposite-of-prolific Terrence Malick directs Richard Gere and Sam Shephard. it seems to me like this flopped at the box office, but we all know that doesn’t mean anything.
  • Fascination (1979) Directed by Jean Rollin.
  • Ace in the Hole (1951) Kirk Douglas plays a reporter taking advantage of a man stuck in a well. Directed by one of the best, Billy Wilder.
  • The Wavy Gravy Movie: Saint Misbehavin (Saint Misbehavin: The Life and Time of Wavy Gravy) (2009) If you don’t know who Wavy Gravy is, then you don’t know your hippies.

  • The Accidental Tourist (1988) The fabulous William Hurt directed by Lawrence Kasdan. I was pretty confused when I watched this years ago.

  • Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) Carry Grant in a wild farce about two old ladies who “mercy kill” lonely old men. This was was instant, then went away and is back. Curious stuff.

  • The Beguiled (1971) Clint Eastwood in the Civil War directed by Don Siegle (they also did Dirty Harry)

  • Dial M for Murder (1954) Hitchcock. What more do you need? How about Grace Kelly?
  • Diner (1982) Directed by Barry Levinson, staring Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Mickey Rourke, Kevin Bacon, Tim Daly, Paul Reiser, and Ellen Barkin. Good grief! I’ve wanted to see this since it came out and have never been able to.
  • Enter the Dragon (1973) Bruce Lee’s best.
  • Every Which Way But Loose (1978) Clint Eastwood and an orangutang beat people up. “Right turn, Clyde.”
