Kayo Hot Chocolate Knocks Me Out!
I love this Kayo Hot Chocolate Mug, but my wife thinks it’s ugly. I’m not sure how old it is, I can’t find too much info on Kayo online. I’m guessing 1940s though I could be way off.

I like this mug too, maybe a guy thing. Looks like it would also be good for coffee. Any idea how many ounces it holds?
It’s a bit on the small side, but pretty close to a standard coffee cup.
I like it too. I think it’s really cool.
“Kayo” brand hot cocoa is still made and the brand now belongs to Saralee’s foodservice division. It can be purchased from Coffee Wholesalers USA (http://cw-usa.com) and many other suppliers
Kayo, the kid with the derby hat depicted on the mug, was a well-known character in the old newspaper comic strip “Moon Mullins” that was published from 1923 to 1991. The title character, Moon Mullins, was a boxer and “Kayo” was his street urchin kid brother. Kayo was drawn wearing suspenders, polka dot pants and a black derby. (The name Kayo was derived from “K.O.”, sportswriters’ shorthand for a knockout punch.) See the web page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Mullins which includes a reprint of one of the comic strips, including Kayo, from 1924.
Excellent info! Thanks! RH
