Jethro Burns Comedian and Mandolin Player
Jethro Burns in a self titled LP. Flying Fish Records FF-042. 1977.
This is the Jethro of the famous comedic musical duo, Homer and Jethro. I don’t know about you, but if I looked like that I wouldn’t want my picture on the cover. And what’s with the photo on the back side? He had a sense of humor. Look at the names of some of the songs.

That’s one bad album cover! I’m surprised such an odd and obscure album like this would be available from Amazon.
Well, it is $35.00 and an import.
The photo on the backside is from Homer & Jethro’s days at Renfro Valley. The manager of Renfro Valley, John Lair, wanted them to look like hillbilly rubes so he forbade them from getting more than two haircuts a year.
I’m working on a biography of Homer & Jethro. Trust me, Jethro DEFINITELY had a sense of humor. And even that is an understatement!
I’d be interested in you biography when it’s done. Maybe I could review it on this site.
