Horses Mules Power Profit

Horses-Mules Power-Profit. The Horse Association of America, Union Stock Yards, Chicago, Illinois. This one is a little outside my normal topic and date range, but hey, I own it so I might as well post it. The oddest things can bring in the most traffic. This little booklet appears to be from the 1920s or 1930s, possibly even the 1910s. I’m guessing it was an attempt to keep equine power in view when tractors were taking over. Obviously, it’s from a different time than now. Natural fertilizer, small non-corporate farms, fresh air (see: natural fertilizer) ah, the ideal life. Only, we know it wasn’t ideal because so many people got out of it as soon as they could.

I remember hearing about this sort of stuff from the old timers in my family when I was growing up. They sure didn’t seem to miss it.
