Ernest Tubb – Thanks A Lot

Ernest Tubb and His Texas Troubadours, Thanks A Lot. Decca DL 74514, 1964. Price code R. Some collectors would want that sticker removed, but I think it’s a valuable piece of information. On the back: “This is a True Hi-Fi Stereophonic Record!”

This “thanks a lot” is sincere, not the sarcastic tone that we are so used to today. Tubb was a honky-tonk singer and one of the pioneers and definers of that sound in country western music.

I remember hearing some of his music when I was growing up. My grandparents listened to him.
