Country Hymns and another warning about buying second hand albums
Country Hymns, Columbia Records C 30324. 1970. Johnny Cash “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”; Ray Price “Faith”; Stonewall Jackson “What a Friend We Have In Jesus”; The Chuck Wagon Gang “When I Get To Heaven”; Carl Butler and Pearl “Jesus is the One”; Marty Robbins “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”; Jimmie Dean “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”; Carl Smith “Wait, A Little Longer, Please Jesus”; Anita Bryant “Rock of Ages”; The Statler Brothers “Church in the Wildwood”; Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs “Troublesome Waters”.
This looks like a great collection of songs for those of us who love Southern Gospel and hymns. However, when I got this album home, and tried to play it, it was Glenn Campell on the inside! I was soooooo disappointed. ALWAYS check the vinyl, not just for condition, but to be sure it’s the right LP for the cover. At least I only paid a quarter. This isn’t the first time I’ve done this.
Anyway, the back side of this album is very interesting. The style is rather Modernist looking with the cube and the note. Kinda contrasts with the pastoral front.
