The Beach Boys, Little Deuce Coupe, Capitol Records T 1998, 1963.
I love any album with a hot rod on the cover. The “Deuce coupe” is a 1932 Ford; “Deuce” is for the “2″ in 1932. And that is one severely customized Deuce on the cover. Little Deuce Coupe is the Beach Boys first platinum album. Had the title song, in addition to “Be True to Your School,” “409,” and “Shut Down.”
I find the inner sleeves interesting. As usual, they advertise other albums. However, the LPs advertised here are an odd selection. How many people who buy a Beach Boys album are going to buy a Sammy Davis Jr. album? OK, I would, but how many others? I would really love the Dick Dale or Wanda Jackson albums. The Beatles are probably worth some money today.
